Krülland Wassertechnologie GmbH
Pool builders from the Lower Rhine
Your own swimming pool as a personal spa and holiday oasis. The Kaarst-based pool specialist Krülland makes dreams like these come true. Following the insolvency three years ago, Dieter Tischer revamped the former family business and made it fit for the global market again. Forty percent of the pools made go abroad. The company base in the Lower Rhine region is ideal for the Managing Director and his 40 staff.
Kaarst. Who doesn’t dream of having their own swimming pool? Some Russians even have three per person. A pool in the garden is not enough; there has to be one in the cellar and on the roof as well. And these days in Romania they also like a bit more luxury. “Four years ago we built an Olympic swimming pool in a business man’s garden,” Dieter Tischer, Managing Director of Krülland Wassertechnologie GmbH in Kaarst, recalls. Let’s not forget that a swimming pool of this kind is 50 meters long and 25 meters wide. And the investment volume was a proud sum of 1.2 million euros.
Despite this million-euro order, Krülland, at that time a family business, has to file for bankruptcy a year later. “Our order books were full, but many customers didn’t pay,” the current Managing Director says explaining the paradoxical situation. Yet the 46-year-old, who has worked at the company since 1991 and who was last in charge of the company together with Andreas Krüll, took over at the helm. The business graduate re-launched Krülland Wassertechnologie GmbH with 20 staff. Now the number of employees has doubled - and Krülland is on the right track.
Despite the difficult times three years ago Dieter Tischer has never considered moving production abroad. “Krülland has been making and selling its products from Kaarst for forty years. And that’s where we will stay in the future. The Lower Rhine region is a very charming agglomeration of towns and cities. The people here have a positive attitude to life and I like that. As well as the strong purchasing power in the region, Kaarst is also well connected logistically. I don’t want to move away from here. We love water and the Lower Rhine.” According to the Krülland Managing Director, Germany and the Lower Rhine provide the perfect conditions for commercial success. “But that only works because we also have motivated, trained staff and because we have committed ourselves religiously to quality.”
The “Krülland” brand has been a synonym for exclusive swimming pool and whirlpool products for over half a century. The Krülland engineers use solar energy and geothermal power to heat the water to the required temperature, therefore saving resources. The company has many new ideas, especially in this field. “Today we are among the leading swimming pool manufacturers in Europe. Our diverse portfolio and our innovative special solutions create the perfect pool for every living space,” Tischer says. “As well as our high quality standards, personal consultation and service – from the planning to the first jump into your own pool – are very important to us. With our all-round service, we offer our customers everything required to make their water experience as pleasurable as possible: from round pools to fitness pools, whirlpools, the corresponding filter and alternative heating facilities, covers and canopies as well as a comprehensive range of accessories and water treatment services.“
